Dame Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury and her modern day champion Benita Refson OBE were named winner of the Addidi Inspiration Award 2013.
The award was presented to Benita on Thursday 20th June at a champagne reception at Tavistock House, London.
Anna Sofat, Managing Director, Addidi Wealth, said: "The evening was a real success and we were thrilled to present the award to Benita Refson. As with every year, the nominees and their inspirational women in history were extremely strong but Benita is a very worthy winner who has made a fantastic contribution to society."
"The award recognises and celebrates women social entrepreneurs and social reformers – women of the past who paved the way for today’s women. By celebrating their achievements, we hope to motivate and inspire other women to use their wealth as a tool for doing good."
Benita is Chief Executive and Founding Trustee of Place2Be, the award-winning national children's charity providing integrated, early-intervention to children in over 175 UK schools. Place2Be seeks to prevent the downward spiral that can lead to low aspirations, poor educational achievement, truancy and exclusion from school.
In 2007, Benita was awarded an OBE for "services to Children and Families."
Dame Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury, born in 1858, devoted her life to philanthropic work, supporting social welfare and education as well as promoting international relations.
